I am Usha. I am part-time faculty at NYU. I received my PhD in philosophy from Columbia University. Before Philosophy, I completed a master’s in English and a Bachelor’s degree in engineering at the National University of Singapore.

My research lies in the intersection of ethics, psychology, and, ancient philosophy. I think distinctively human intelligence and moral agency involve cognitive processes that are largely implicit (or unconscious). They seem to also be constrained in particular ways by our emotional dispositions. You can find more about my research here.

Besides teaching and writing philosophical articles, I sing, attempt Indian cooking, and take long walks with my doe-headed, horse-souled dog, Bernie.
